Lilly Singh is ready to make history on the grandest scale. The Canadian YouTube sensation is set to become the first queer woman of color to land herself a major network "talk show" in the United States. NBC hopes A Little Late with Lilly Singh will surpass the work of her predecessor Carson Daly.

Daly stepped away from his NBC shiftwork to create this vacancy. Singh couldn't help but share the news with her 14 million YouTube subscribers days after making the official announcement on Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show, saluting each another as NBC colleagues in the process. A Little Late with Lilly Singh will occupy the 1:35 am timeslot that follows after Fallon's Tonight Show.

"I can’t believe it! I’m getting my own NBC late night talk show called A Little Late with Lilly Singh," read the blurb below her video announcement. "Let’s keep shattering those glass ceilings y’all!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Now let’s get to work!"

Lilly's tenure is expected to start sometime in September 2019. Until then, she will continue working on her YouTube channel, so to keep from going cold. Her appointment is a sign that merit can win over. Singh wrote the New York Times' bestseller How to Be a Bawse: A Guide To Conquering Life in 2017, during the height of her YouTube ascendancy.
