Whether your first time hearing Lil Uzi Vert was on Migos' "Bad and Boujee" or his solo single  “XO Tour Llif3,” you gotta admit he had you hooked by having his verses stuff in your head.

It's reasons like that, and many more, that have made him succeed on the charts and become a recognizable name in hip-hop where Nicki Minaj even said he reminded her of Lil Wayne.

Uzi tells Billboard Magazine that his most viral hit, “XO Tour Llif3” was released on Soundcloud in a group of songs that were "just throwaways" while he was on tour with Bryson Tiller and The Weeknd.

"All of a sudden we see a giant amount of streams coming in, so we raced to get the record out on the proper digital streaming platforms," Julie Greenwald, Atlantic Records chairman and COO adds. "It exploded. I mean, there was no one in here who said, “That song’s going to stream 20-odd million times in the first week. We’re good, but not that good."

Uzi follows up saying, "I was speaking authentic on “XO Tour Llif3.” Anyone can relate: I was in a dark space, so I went with it. That’s how I made the album. I just got that feeling: These are the songs, that’s it."
