When the game lost Lil Peep, it lost one of the leading pioneers of the "emo hip-hop" wave, a wave that has carried on to this day. And while Peep may be gone, his memory lives on through his posthumous music, including his latest track "I've Been Waiting." The song, which features iLoveMakonnen and once mighty emo pioneers Fall Out Boy (thankfully hip-hop has yet to adopt their habit of titling songs), was originally meant to feature on a collaboration album between Makonnen and Peep. Sadly, the project never had a chance to come to fruition, though perhaps we'll see more offerings as time goes on.

The song itself features a pop-rock aesthetic, akin to Fall Out Boy's later offerings. Of course, bags must be secured, and lacing radio-friendly emo-tinged tunes might be a surefire way to garner traction. Yet those who enjoy Peep's music will likely follow his creativity to the brink, and one has to wonder what may have been. Rest in peace Lil Peep.

Quotable Lyrics

Break my heart but don't tell me I'm not doin' fine
'Cause I'll do it fine
Let me go, I'm spendin' time
Not doin' fine but I'll do it fine
