G Herbo & G Herbo
G Herbo and Lil Bibby used to run pickup basketball games growing up together in Chicago. In an interview with HNHH, Bibby had the following to say: "Herb wasn't that nice though. I know he probably told you he was nice, but I don't know what's going on with Herb's brain."

G Herbo
G Herbo is up for the 10th and final spot of XXL's 2016 freshman class. Last year, HNHH argued that Herbo should be in the 2015 freshman class. Somehow, Herbo is still facing long odds to make this year's cover. With XXL letting the citizens of earth vote on the 10th spot, G Herbo delivers his pitch for his inclusion in this year's class.  "It's all there," he explains. "The fans there, the bars there."

Herbo has been a busy man lately. Last month, he and Joey Bada$$ dropped a visual to their Metro Boomin-produced collab "Lord Knows," and Herbo also put out the video to "Jugg House," which appeared on his Pistol P Project, released in December 2014.

In November, G Herbo, who had just signed to Cinematic Music Group, hooked up with Joey Bada$$, who's also on the roster of the NYC label, for an unexpected and exciting collaboration, "Lord Knows." The beat came from one of the hottest in the game, Metro Boomin -- providing a different look for both rappers, especially Joey.

When he first emerged on the scene, G Herbo (then Lil Herb) was quickly lumped into Chicago's drill movement. His sometimes confrontational style and gritty subject matter does align with the genre in some respects, but when we spoke to Herb, he clarified that he's "far from drill rap".

G Herbo returns to his recent mixtape, Ballin Like I'm Kobe, for an official music video for "Peace of Mind." The song is basically about the struggle to stay safe in the dangerous Chi-town streets, as well as his family's concerns, and balancing that with his fledgling career. To give us a better idea of what it's really like out in the Chi, Herbo takes us to his part of town, including his very modest grandma's house. His grandma gets a nice little surprise at the end of the music, as Herb makes sure to take care of his own. Watch it above.

G Herbo Talks Growing Up With Lil Bibby

Before G Herbo and Lil Bibby were two of the most popular rappers in Chicago, they were homies. They grew up in the same neighborhood, went to the same school, and played sports together. G Herbo sat down with HNHH to detail the history of his relationship with Bibby, who is a year older. Bibby was rapping first, and Herb got his start by trading raps with Bibby via brief cell phone video clips and recording memos. It was only a matter of time before they hit the studio together...

G Herbo may have just dropped off his anticipated mixtape, Ballin Like I'm Kobe, but he keeps some otha shit on deck. When he visited New York the other week for a little press run, which included a freestyle session for Sway In The Morning, Herbo also blessed the HNHH Studios.

Earlier this week we had the privilege of chopping it up with Chicago’s own G-Herbo, who gave us an update on his new label situation as well as other upcoming projects he's got coming for us in the future. But being in NYC, Herbo took the opportunity to visit other media publications with his time, one of which was Shade 45 and Sway’s Morning Show. As expected, the Chicago rapper kicked off the interview with over a 2-minute freestyle for the listeners, before talking about influencing the youth and his good homie Lil Bibby. Check it out.

When Chief Keef affiliate Capo was shot and killed this summer, the attackers inadvertently ran over and killed a 1-year-old in a stroller as they fled the scene. It was a sequence of events that succinctly encapsulated Chicago's current gun violence epidemic, something a group of Chicago MCs is hoping to combat with a new video "Put the Guns Down."

Slim Jesus is still riding the success of his viral music video, "Drill Time," but thus far into his young career, the game is showing him non-stop love. Of course, there are many on the Internet and elsewhere hating on the 18-year-old Ohio rapper -- particularly for his alleged appropriation of Chicago drill music -- but, when it comes to drill artists from Chicago, Jesus has received cosigns from some of the city's hottest acts.

Lil Herb achieves great synergy of visual and lyrical content in his new video for "I'm Rollin." We find Herb and his crew mobbing in a dimly lit warehouse, sipping cham, smoking blunts, flashing bills and chains, just engaging in general shenanigans. "Off of Louis V, sippin fizzy water," raps Herb. "Came from nothing, I just had to let 'em know." Make no mistake, Herb is a threat, and he makes this perfectly clear in in this A Zae-directed video, going in with his trademark rapid-fire delivery.
