2019 was a quiet year for Lil Baby, and rightfully so. He spent the two years prior releasing project after project and became a leading voice in the new generation of rap. Though he barely released music, the anticipation for his sophomore album was high. My Turn not only solidified him as one of the hottest artists in hip-hop but propelled him into the mainstream light.
For a second week in a row, Lil Baby holds down the top spot on the Billboard 200 with his latest album, My Turn. Even with the influx of music released last week, Baby's My Turn moved 72K album-equivalent units this week. That's a 12 percent increase from last week which includes 71K off of streaming equivalent units and under 1,000 for TEA and album sales.
The rapper's album now joins The Weeknd's After Hours and Roddy Ricch's Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial as the only projects who've clocked at least three weeks at the top of the chart.
Though the release of the deluxe edition helped it secure the #1 spot last week, this week's chart position is in part to the success of his new song, "The Bigger Picture" inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement and protests going on across the country.
Congrats to Lil Baby for his second week atop the Billboard 200.
