Over the course of over 10 years, Lecrae has paved his own lane in hip hop. It's hard to think of another rapper who has stayed true to their brand while maintaining longevity in the game. Since launching Reach Records in 2004, the rapper has released seven studio albums, two EP's and three mixtapes under the label. His 2012 album Gravity helped him receive critical and commercial success and is still considered to be one of his strongest projects to date. Fast forward to 2016 and Lecrae penned his first major label deal with Columbia. Now that it's been over a year since the signing, he's gearing up for the release of his major label debut, All Things Work Together, and drops another single off the project, "Broke."

Over T-Minus production, Lecrae made a heater for anybody on the grind. Before the beat drops, he introduces the song with "Being broke in this thing don't sit right/ Do it for my folk, tryna get by/ I came through the struggle with my head high/ You being broke think you know what it feel like" before T-Minus signature sliding synths and booming 808's kick in. Lecrae gears this one towards anybody who's going through the struggle. On the hook he sings "being broke made me rich" before going into the verse to detail how growing up in poverty helped him get out of it. However, Lecrae isn't flexing his money. Instead, he elaborates on the hook to talk about how being broke has helped him build a better character.

As his major label debut is set to drop on Sept. 22nd, be sure to keep your eyes out for All Things Work Together. If this song is any indication, it's definitely going to be fire.

Quotable Lyrics
We came out the trenches, government assistance in the beginning
Keeping cans for the pennies, we saving that grease after dinner
Now they counting all my pennies, counting all my figures, all up in my business, man
Now they watching what I'm spending, wonderin' what I got, and wonder how I get it, man
