"It would be the same if I went to a restaurant and decided to eat chicken and not steak."

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers are in New York City today to take on the New York Knicks tonight (airing on ESPN at 8pm EST). But instead of answering questions about Melo or Porzingis (he wouldn't talk about Phil Jackson), LeBron is being asked about his decision to sleep at a different hotel than most of his teammates.

As reported yesterday, LeBron and some of his other teammates were refusing to stay at the Trump-branded hotel in SoHo during their trip to Manhattan, which is an obvious stance against president-elect Donald Trump.

However, LeBron claims he wasn't make a statement by refusing to stay at the hotel. He said it was merely a personal preference.

"It would be the same if I went to a restaurant and decided to eat chicken and not steak," James said.

"At the end of the day I hope he's one of the best presidents ever, for all of our sake," James said. "For my family, for all us."

This was the first time in his career that he stayed at a different hotel than the one his teammates were staying at, but he definitely wasn't making a statement. Right.

Head coach Tyronn Lue also addressed the situation this morning and how it impacted the Cavs' typical routine.

"It's not normal, but considering the circumstances that's what we have," Lue said. "But that's not my main objective. My main thing is to try to get this team to stay on track and play the right way and try to get back on track by playing Cleveland Cavalier basketball."

LeBron, and the others who avoided Trump SoHo, reportedly took the team bus to the morning shootaround as usual with the team.
