This week's FIRE EMOJI playlist reflects the level of incitement that arose from Don Q answering Tory Lanez' open gauntlet. Although Don Q doesn't make the list, and nor do any of the "battle records" issued this past week, it's not because he or Tory were actually undeserving of a nod, but rather a reflection of how strong the other submissions were - and coincidentally far more balanced in composition. A diss record is a diss record is a diss record at the end of the day.

Joyner Lucas started this week the brunt of a joke, only to make lemons out of a Chris Brown duet they titled "Just Let Go." Read into it however you want, but "Just Let Go" spoke to so many things, on so many levels, especially when you consider the potholes both artists have had to side-step. Remember, "Just Let Go" is but a teaser to the broader collab-album they promised us early in 2018.

The other two artists making a discernible impact this week, have frequented the "FIRE EMOJI" club on a far more regular basis than Joyner Lucas. For one, Gunna is such a prolific "creator" that his insistence on a pre-amble for his single "One Call" almost seemed out of character - Not to be outdone by Kevin Gates' "real talk" sermon on "Right Game Wrong N***a."

In the week that was January 27 to February 2nd, hip-hop fans were spoiled for options. Other names that blessed our playlist this week include Soulja Boy, Lil West, Chris Brown, Sada Baby, G Herbo, Preme, Wiz Khalifa, and A$AP Twelvvy just to name a few.
