Last month, Kevin Abstract released his sophomore album American Boyfriend: A Suburban Love Story, but he's ending off the year with one more gem. "Kin" is the latest track from the versatile rapper, and finds him using his voice in a variety of ways over some warm, Pharrell-esque keys. It's a more fully formed version of a track that originally appeared on the album.

Starting things off with a sticky hook, Kevin's delivery get's weirder and harder to classify as he experiments on his verses. In an interview ith Fader, he listed influences as "Goo Goo Dolls, Sunny Day Real Estate, Vanessa Carlton—stuff you would hear in a Chili’s." While we wouldn't say we hear any of those direct influences on Kevin's latest track, his broad taste is definitely present in the way he writes.

Quotable Lyrics:

And pray for mom's son
I've been holding my pain for some time
I been trying to catch what you sayin'
And your brain's stuck in the past
And my past is stuck in my locker
And the world is stuck in my locker
And I felt the world with my shoes
And you called me right after school
