While Dr. Dre is reportedly still working on Detox, some of his classic production has been remixed to an extent by DJ Critical Hype, mashing up Kendrick Lamar with Dre to create an original body of work. Pairing King Kenny's relentless bars with Dre's vintage musical production, the mixtape is a seamless listen as it gives new life to each artist.
Both Kendrick and Dre have demonstrated tremendous levels of respect for each other as two of the biggest names to emerge out of Compton. Dre assisted Kenny in his rise to fame, taking on the role of executive producer on good kid, m.A.A.d city. Featuring Jay Rock, Alori Joh, Nate Dogg, Punch and Pusha T, The Damn. Chronic offers some of the best vocals from Kendrick and his collaborators while meshing them together with Dre's beats. While every track offers a new perspective on both rappers' pieces, some clear standouts exist like "Control," "Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe" and "Nosetalgia (Dopeman)" with King Push.
