BADBADNOTGOOD Feat. Kaytranada
Canadian trio BADBADNOTGOOD is gearing up for the release of their fourth studio album IV on July 8th. This afternoon, they released a charming track with Kaytranada called "Lavender." The song traverses several movements showcases BBNG's eclectic style and influences -- everyone from LCD Soundsystem to the Beach Boys lives on this record.
Kiss It Better (Kaytranada Remix)
Kaytranada just dropped his debut album, 99.9% earlier this year, and while it found him collaborating with an impressive roster of like-minded artists, Rihanna was unfortunately not among them. Today, we've received the next best thing to an official collaboration, as the Montreal soundsmith tweaks Rih's recent single, "Kiss It Better," removing its synthesized, Prince-like guitar, and replacing it with deep grooves, pushing Rih's tenor into a higher register in the process.
Shout out Canada. Redbull Sound Select's latest collaboration features two Canadian forces to be reckoned with (again), rising singer River Tiber, and producer Kaytranada. This is their second collaboration in recent time, following up the Pusha T-featured "Illusions" which Kaytra also helped produce.
Kali Uchis Feat. Vince Staples & Steve Lacy
With winter refusing to go away, Colombian-born singer Kali Uchis debuts a track called "Only Girl" that has the power to accelerate the thaw and usher us into spring time.
The Artful Dodger
Mick Jenkins blesses this Thursday with a new offering called "The Artful Dodger", produced by Kaytranada and THEMPeople. Jenkins previously linked up with Kaytranada on "Your Love" and "Ps and Qs" and THEMpeople on "Grenade Theory" and "$3,000 Advice".
River Tiber Feat. Pusha T & Kaytranada
River Tiber is a rising singer from Toronto, and today he's getting his biggest look yet with a premiere on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 show. "Illusions" features an impressive array of collaborators, two of which hail from Canada, the first being Weeknd collaborator Doc McKinney and Montreal producer and songwriter Kaytranada. On top of that, the track features a verse from the one and only Pusha T. With Tiber bringing it all together with his own vocal contributions and production, he's still running the show, and the record is one of his most immediate yet.
Kaytranada Feat. Karriem Riggins & River Tiber
Montreal-based producer Kaytranada appeared on Benji B’s BBC Radio 1 show last night to share details on his upcoming album 99.9%. Along the way, Benji convinced him to play a new song off the record. That song is “Bus Ride” feat. Karreim Riggins, who you might recognize from the production credits on Kanye West’s “30 Hours.”
You may remember New York artist Mike Jagerr from a few years back -- well, after a long break, he's returned under a new name. Now going by Govales, the singer and rapper is planning to drop his new project G-Spot in 2016, and today he's shared a brand new record with Montreal's Kaytranada. The result is a psychedelic, R&B-infused sound that is more in tune with current trends than Jagger's previous work. No word on a release date, but we're excited to see what we'll hear from Govales next. What do you think of this new direction?
XL Recordings is celebrating their 20-year anniversary with the release of a new compilation, XL Chapter VI. The album features music from a range of XL-signed artists, each providing us with a dose of what they do best. For Montreal-bred producer Kaytranada, that would be vibezzz.
Rome Fortune debuts a new single this afternoon, with production from Montreal-born beatsmith Kaytranada. Kaytranada, who is known for his electronic, dance-able production, comes correct here with just that vibe. Rome likes to keep us guessing when it comes to his sound, and so while this isn't entirely new territory for Rome, it does veer from the minimalistic style found on projects like Small VVorld and the Beautiful Pimp series.
Peanut butter and jelly will always be a classic sandwich. Although T.I., Young Thug and Young Dro recently came together for the banger "Peanutbutter Jelly," Childish takes a completely different approach with his own, "Grilled PB&J." They're both really dope tracks about peanut butter jelly time, though.
HeadAss (Vic Spencer Diss)
Mick Jenkins and Vic Spencer -- two talented rappers out of Chicago -- recently got into it on Twitter over what appeared to be some scene politics. Following the dispute, Spencer released "Dick Jerkins," a diss track aimed at Mick, and ever since, we've been awaiting Jenkins' response. It took a week, but the wait was well worth it, as Jenkins comes back with some ferocious technical bars for Spencer.
P's & Q's
Later this year, Mick Jenkins will release his follow-up to last year's The Water[s], the similarly-titled The Wave[s]. After giving us the Lee Bannon-produced "Alchemy," he links up with the ever-impressive Kaytranada for another cut that will appear on the EP, "P's & Q's."
Towkio's buzz continues to grow with each new release, as he positions himself as the rapper next up from Chance The Rapper-helmed Save Money crew. Today he drops off the latest leak from his anticipated debut .wav theory, which once again contains production from Kaytranda (he also produced "Involved" with Vic Mensa).
My Dope House
Freddie Gibb & Kaytranada
After being featured in Mr. Green’s new video for “Clap” the other day, Indiana rapper Freddie Gibbs returns tonight with a dope new record with producer Kaytranada called “My Dope House”.
Drake definitely put Toronto on the map when it comes to the rap game, so what Canadian province will be next up to get some rap game credit? Quebec may be up for the task, with a lot of producer talent hailing from Montreal, including A-Trak and more recently Kaytranada. Today we're introduced to a Montreal rapper that definitely has the potential-- 23-year old Wasiu. Wasiu is laced with a cold beat from fellow Montrealer on "Physical", which serves as the first leak off his forthcoming untitled album.
Towkio Feat. Vic Mensa
If you recall the Crew Love feature we did on the Save Money collective a while back, you might remember that Towkio is a member. Although we've never featured him on the site in the past, today seemed like as good a day as any to start, especially since he just dropped off a new single featuring fellow Save Money rapper Vic Mensa.
Drive Me Crazy
Kaytranada Feat. Vic Mensa
After linking up on the collab “Wimme Nah” over the summer, Vic Mensa and producer Kaytranada have decided to do it all over again on this new joint called “Drive Me Crazy”.
Girl (Radio Rip)
The Odd Future-affiliated duo of Syd Tha Kyd and Matt Martians, also known as The Internet, already have production chops for days, as evidenced by their projects Purple Naked Ladies and Live From Space, a release they did with Mac Miller.
About The Money (Remix)
Whether producing for rappers, creating standalone originals or remixing previously-related tracks, Montreal's Kaytranada has proven himself to be one of the most adept, hip-hop-leaning electronic musicians in the game. Today, he hits us with a remix of one of the year's biggest tracks, T.I. and Young Thug's "About The Money."
