Katy Perry has had a pretty up-and-down year where her music career is concerned. The newly-minted American Idol judge will be making $25 million to be a part of the TV franchise reboot, a fact that was defended by an executive at the network amid outrage at how high that figure was. Her new album, Witness, has yielded the radio singles "Chained to the Rhythm," her Migos collaboration "Bon Appetit" and her latest link-up, a Nicki Minaj-assisted track called "Swish Swish." The latter was featured as one of the big live performances at this year's MTV Video Music Awards, but there's a feeling online that her newest material hasn't been as universally loved by her fans as her previous work was. Now, another bump in the road has materialized for Perry, who is being sued by a stagehand who claims that not enough was done for her when she sustained a serious injury while working on the singer's Prismatic World Tour in 2014.
The accuser, Christina Fish, is saying that she lost a toe while working on the tour. According to TMZ, the incident occurred in Raleigh, North Carolina, where Fish was instructed to help move a wall that was part of the setup to be used on stage, only to have the massive object roll over her foot. She says she immediately felt her shoe fill up with blood, but was not offered a ride to the hospital or anything by other members of the crew or concert promotion team. Instead, she was simply given some ice. In fact, the report indicates that she had to call a friend of hers to come pick her up from the venue and drive her to the emergency room. Her toe supposedly became gangrenous and needed to be amputated, which Fish says caused her great emotional distress and discomfort, not to mention preventing her from doing yoga since she sustained her injury, an activity that she was very passionate about.
No terms of the lawsuit were disclosed by TMZ, but chances are it's for a whole lot of money. She's named Perry, Live Nation and several stage production companies in the lawsuit.
