Kanye West completely changes the Yeezus single.

Kanye West has always been as much a tastemaker as an emcee. His fashion moves are imitated, his music style is emulated and his co-signs become world famous. So, when we hear a story about Kanye West gathering Miley Cyrus and Travi$ Scott for a surreptitious remix of “Black Skinhead” in 2013, we shouldn’t be surprised.

The remix retains most of Kanye’s vocals, but the song is considerably more melodic this time around. The raw, almost punk rock sound of the original is exchanged for electronic 808s and synths. Cyrus gets her own verse to start off, flipping a sample from Tears For Fears’ “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” into a new chorus.

Scott gets a few ad-libs early on and some heavily distorted vocals on the interlude and outro, but unfortunately doesn’t get a verse of his own. Hopefully there are more of these hidden remixes yet to appear.

Quotable Lyrics

Welcome to your life
dive into the lights
there's Miami Vice
is that life?

- Miley Cyrus
