Juvenile's "Back That Azz Up" is a gift that keeps on giving.

Juvenile was a pioneer, a trailblazer of sorts in the field of celebratory ass-related anthems. That and so-bad-it's-amazing album artwork. The former is our concern for this week's Throwback Thursday selection. If you were listening to hip-hop music when this dropped in 1998 you would know the impact of this one was similar to the seismic force of countless asses backing up at once. Over a strangely melancholic instrumental from Mannie Fresh, Juvenile employs a singsong flow like a deviant pied piper. "You got a stupid ass, yeah, make me laugh, yeah," raps Juvie. "Make a n***a wanna grab that, autograph that."

The track sadly dropped in a pre-twerk-video era, although there may have been a few VHS bootlegs around the New Orleans bodega circuit. Laying down the foundation of the "bounce" movement, Juvenile's sexually charged banger has proven a timeless classic.

Quotable Lyrics

Girl you looks good, won't you back that ass up
You's a fine motherfucker, won't you back that ass up
Call me big daddy when you back that ass up
Girl who is you playing with, back that ass up
