Najee Ali, a social and political activist based in Los Angeles, in calling out Jussie Smollett in relation to his hate crime case. The arrival of "new evidence" has caused the investigation of the actor's attack to shift. Legal authorities are looking into the possibility of his own involvement in the attack's planning. After considering this new information, Ali held a press conference on Sunday, February 17, to ask that he be "brought to justice and held accountable."
"We believe Jussie Smollett Lied about being the victim of a hate crime and being assaulted," he declared, "And for us, it's a slap in the face." He goes on to express how Smollett's alleged falsified testimony "certainly is an injustice to those true victims of racism and hate crimes."
This comes after the Chicago Police Department confirmed that new evidence was provided by Ola and Abel Osundairo, the initial suspects in the investigation. Though both men have since been released without charges, they are believed to be a vital part of the case's development. According to reports, the Osundairo's named Jussie Smollett as part of the attack's orchestration.
If Jussie Smollett did, in fact, lie about being attacked by 'MAGA' supporters, he may be reprimanded with prison time. Legal authorities have already confirmed that he will be held accountable if this scenario proved to be true.
