JR likely out until the playoffs.
JR Smith broke his right thumb during a game against Milwaukee earlier this week and initial reports suggested the surgery needed to repair the thumb would only keep him out of action for 4-6 weeks.
Today, however, the Cavaliers announced that JR will miss 4-6 MONTHS after undergoing surgery, which means he won't be back until the playoffs at the earliest.
Smith signed a 4-year $57 million deal this offseason but is averaging just 8.6 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. The bottom line is, the Cavs still have LeBron, Kyrie, Love etc. so they can afford to let JR rest up until it's playoff time.
