JR Smith suffered a broken right thumb during last night's overtime win over the Bucks and the team has announced, per ESPN's Brian Windhorst, he'll need to undergo surgery to repair the injury.

The timetable for his return is reportedly 4-6 weeks.

Smith exited last night's game in the first half after swiping at Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo and breaking the thumb on his right hand. In 21 games this season JR, who signed a 4-year $57 million deal this offseason, is averaging just 8.6 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.
