Our interview footage from the recent HOT 97 Summer Jam continues today, with none other than Beast Coast rapper Joey Bada$$. The New York native took the stage at the Festival Village this year, a momentous event in the young rapper's rising career.

"I told myself last year I wouldn't come to Summer Jam ever again until I'm performing, and look here I am," Joey Bada$$ told us during our interview backstage at the Festival Village.

As the conversation continued, Joey gave shout-outs to the artists he was looking forward too (including A$AP Ferg), as well as listed what's currently on his iPod, with  quite the range of sounds, from Daft Punk to Lauryn Hill. "A lot of Daft Punk, a lot of Pro Era. Chance The Rapper, some Bronsolino, some Erykah, some Ms. Lauryn Hill, some Biggie, some Jay," Joey said of his current iPod playlist.

Joey made sure to remind us about his upcoming mixtape, Summer Knights, which arrives on June 12th. Although the tape may have a summer theme, Joey promises it's a project you can bump all year round. "It's not really just gunna be a seasonable album, you could play it all year. But it's dedicated to the summer," Joey said of Summer Knights. "It's that feel-good shit, but it's a lot of creepy shit on it though," he added.

Peep our interview with the Pro Era leader below.
