Joell Ortiz & !llmind
In honor of their recent collaborative album Human, Joell Ortiz and !llmind have been taking the opportunity to meet some of their fans and share their experiences via a vlog. The "Human Vlog" kicked off last week, with the duo hitting a pizza spot in Williamsburg with seven lucky fans (it was determined by whoever texted !llmind first after he announced the meetup). This week, they're back eating pizza, but  this time in a different neighborhood (Dumbo) with different fans.

Joell Ortiz and Illmind just got together to record a joint studio album, Human, and today they've shared a new video for one of the project's highlights. The clip for "Lil Piggies"finds Joell Ortiz casually hanging out in a butcher shop, which is a pretty apt setting for a rapper who's part of a group called slaughterhouse. Elsewhere a plotline involving mafia and assassins plays out, with Joell's menacing rhymes soundtracking the whole narrative.

Slaughterhouse recently shared their contribution to the "Southpaw" soundtrack, "R.N.S.," and with Joell Ortiz saying that the group's new album is finished being recorded, the four-piece paid a well-timed visit to Hot 97's Ebro In The Morning.

After debuting their new record, produced by AraabMUZIK and Just Blaze, last week, Slaughterhouse quickly return this week with the official music video for the song. The song unfortunately isn't a single off their anticipated album Glass House, rather its a contribution to the "Southpaw" soundtrack, which was executive produced by Eminem.

Erick Sermon's ramp up to E.S.P. (Erick Sermon Perception) continues with his video for "Make Room" feat. Joell Ortiz & Sheek Louch. With Sermon hailing from Queens, Ortiz from Brooklyn, and Louch repping the LOX and Yonkers, this triumvirate holds it down from all corners of New York City. Here they rap from a variety of gritty urban locales, including the railyards, over some pocket Dipset-esque production. Make no mistake, this video screams NYC.

As a rapper, Joell Ortiz makes music that's relatively unadorned by frills and unswayed by prevailing trends, turning the focus instead on his Slaughterhouse-tested lyricism, which is usually quite thrilling. His new video for "Q & A," a track from his recent album House Slippers, applies that same bare-bones approach to the video shoot, showing Ortiz alone, rapping in a room with no backdrop.

Slaughterhouse MC Joell Ortiz stopped by Hot 97 and chopped it up with Laura Stylez, Ebro and Peter Rosenberg. The rapper says with the utmost confidence during the interview that he is better than everyone out there, and no one would want to battle him.  Joell Ortiz goes on to talk about his new album House Slippers, clarifies exactly how you spell YAOWA (that's how), and briefly gives us a run-down of his life so that he could get into rapping. He starts spitting at the 19:30 mark if that's the only reason you came here.
