Friday, need I say more? It's been a pretty tame Friday new-music-wise, but our homie Tory Lanez shook things up with the premiere of his A$AP Ferg collaboration "Line Up The Flex." While some focus on a potential diss to Drake, we're focusing on just how great this record will be for the Friday turn-up. Do yourself a favor and add it to your playlist, or, you can totally use our playlist and just call it your own.
The 10 Best R&B/Rap Covers Of Classic Songs
The 10 Best R&B/Rap Covers Of Classic Songs Mar 18, 2016 at 04:22pm
Searching "rap covers" online is like walking into a minefield of acoustic guitars and webcams, leftovers from a war that began with Ben Folds' famous version of Dr. Dre's "Bitches Ain't Shit." An earnest-sounding white dude with a guitar and an angelic backing choir singing things like "Lick on these nuts and suck the dick" was (believe it or not) novel at some point, but now that approach has been beaten to death. Last year, for example, a ten year old covered "Trap Queen."

10 Essential JMSN Tracks

JMSN is a name that has been popping up over the past few years, but this Michigan native has actually been active for 10 years now.Mixing soul, R&B and alternative minded music, JMSN receives comparisons to the likes of The Weeknd and even Justin Timberlake. However his production is more reminiscent of Shlohmo or Ta-Ku than anything on pop radio, making his music appeal to the indie audience and those looking for the freshest sounds. Keep in mind that he is a producer as well as a singer, and lays down the beats for most of his songs by being a multi-instrumentalist.

As November fast approaches, we're all getting excited to hear Eminem's come-back (we hope) on MMLPII on November 5th. However, October 15th was also an important day for hip-hop, with three of the most dope and underrated emcees all dropping records: Boldy James, Dom Kennedy, and Black Milk. Dom Kennedy is sort of making his way out of that underrated category, with Get Home Safely receiving (most) of the praise its due.

Although there is no sign of the JMSN x Ab-Soul joint effort, Unit 6, and it sounds like there won't be any signs of it for awhile, JMSN is still hard at work on his solo tip. The singer is dropping a new 10-track project on November 5th, titled †Pllajë†, from which we've heard the single "Walk Away".

Last week we saw a solid output of music from artists both big and small. However, Drake took the cake with Nothing Was The Same leaking-- basically all talk revolved around Drizzy. Today let's take a look at five dope tracks that dropped in the past seven days, that are unrelated to the Toronto king. Let us know which underrated rappers you're feeling at the moment.

This week we keep it short and sweet for y'all. We've got four cuts from upstarts in music, who all deliver vastly different sounds, from the indie-kinda-rap OnCue spits, to the r'n'b ish JMSN delivers, to the '90s sounding rap from Dillon Cooper. We also threw in a cut from Tony Yayo and Lloyd Banks. Plus we have G-Unit rapper Precious Paris featured, so we can all reminisce on G-Unit days for a minute. Click through the photos above to check out some dope cuts from the past seven days.

Ab-Soul's profile has been consistently rising. While the Compton rapper has gained quite a following with his own releases, it doesn't hurt that he runs with the most hyped emcee of last year.

7 Creative Producers You Should Know About
7 Creative Producers You Should Know About Nov 30, 2012 at 02:22pm
At the beginning of November we did a list that comprised of 9 Creative Rappers You Should Know About. Today we're following up that list with 7 Creative Producers You Should Know About. Producers lack credit across the boards, but they are essential in creating a song, and not just a 'song' but a dope song. A head-bobbing, I-wanna-look-up-the-lyrics-ASAP song is nothing without the beat that carries it.

In the wake of that crazy bitch Hurricane Sandy chances are people might go a little crazy themselves. So if you have to evacuate or you have to do just the opposite, and stay inside all day, the only thing that will make the time past faster (or more enjoyably, at least), is good music. Check out these three songs below, and although it's definitely not a sufficient amount, it's a start. Angel Haze- Doo Wop (That Thing)
