Jeff Chery attempts to find peace in a war zone on his tranquil new record "Ridin on the Blocc," produced by Slayer Tracks.

Jeff Chery returns with a wholly new sound on "Ridin on the Blocc," which arrives less than a week after he dropped a new single, "Salty," via POTW. Keep in mind that the Haitian Mufasa also has an upcoming joint EP, entitled Vega, with the Florida production team HamSquad. Chery shared the lead track off the EP, "What You Doin?", at the beginning of the month. And all this comes after last month's excellent Mufasa's Way mixtape. The ATL-via-Haiti trapper is working harder than ever before.

Back to the new one, "Ridin on the Blocc" is an immediately tranquil record, boasting a softer sound than the dark and wheezy melodic trap that Chery specializes in. The light and playful production pairs nicely with the song's cover artwork, conjuring up a nostalgic scene of frolicking in one's childhood neighborhood. Chery comes in with a soothing flow, feeling content to be on his home blocc, though it soon becomes clear that he stays in a place where a sense of calm is always temporary. As he attempts to find peace, wondering "why we can't all get along," he's reminded that he "may not make it 'til the mornin'."

"Ridin on the Blocc" is produced by Slayer Tracks, with whom Chery collaborated on last month's "C'est La Vie."
