Jay-Z's 40/40 Club has filed a lawsuit against the club's chef for not fulfilling promises on changing the menu for the grand reopening.
Jay-Z hand selected chef, Mike Shand to oversee the reopening of his Manhattan 40/40 Club, after he served as Jay and Beyonce’s personal chef while on tour. Now, the chef has been served papers which charge Shand “failed to perform on significant aspects” in changing the menu for the bar’s $10 million reopening.
The NY Post reports that the lawsuit reads that Jigga, and business partner Juan Perez were unable to deliver promised offerings “costing the club lost profits, loss of good will [and] alienation of clientele.” The suit continues that the 40/40 has been hurt financially because “the club has not been able to adequately replace the items and services [the] defendant was paid to provide.”
Mike Shand did not respond directly, but his lawyer says that the chef is surprised , and not sure why exactly he is being sued, “Mike’s a great chef, and it is unclear why 40/40 would contemplate a lawsuit against him. Nevertheless, we will respond accordingly when he gets served with the complaint.”
Back in January, Hov’s 40/40 had reopened, but was promptly shut down again by a Health Inspector just days after the reopening.
