Jay Rock had a quick press run in NYC recently, to promote his upcoming album 90059, which will be his first big release on TDE in a minute. Despite being the first rapper to actually sign to Top Dawg, Jay Rock is one of the last to really pop off, and now that the label in general has popped off, he's also basically the last to drop an album. He discusses all this on Hot 97's Real Late with Peter Rosenberg.
The two also talk about what Jay Rock was doing before Top Dawg signed him, how the other TDE-signed rappers (i.e. Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul etc) inspire Jay to go a bit harder on his own songs, and putting focus on perfecting his craft.
