Jamie xx is a talented producer (and remix artist) who counts himself as part of the London-based group The xx. The xx's debut album xx happens to be critically acclaimed, but Jamie also works solo as an artist. He dropped a remix album with Gil-Scott Heron We're New Here in 2011, and will be following that up with his own solo effort.
Today Jamie has let go his first official solo single since 2011, "Sleep Sound", which will be released with another single, "Girl", on May 5th in the form of 12" vinyl and MP3 via Young Turks. You can pre-order it here.
You may recognize this track, because it circulated in November as "Untitled" and was unfinished. Now we can enjoy the final/official product, which is even nicer. The mellow instrumental contains short female vocal clips (Beyonce?) and is almost like a lullaby, so the title "Sleep Sound" seems very appropriate. We can assume the other single "Girl" will be just as soothing, but cop it on May 5th to find out.
