James Harden won NBA MVP honors last season and this year, the Houston Rockets superstar has shown absolutely zero signs of slowing down. Even with Chris Paul injured, Harden has kept it moving and went into Madison Square Garden last night, to give the New York Knicks a taste of just how good he is. Harden put up a career-high 61 points, en route to a 114-110 victory over the bottom-feeding Eastern Conference squad. Not only did Harden go off, but he also beat Wilt Chamberlain's record of 20 straight games with 30 or more points, as this was Harden's 21st. After the game, Harden commented on his night.
"This is one of the historical buildings in the sport that we have," Harden said according to ESPN. "Obviously, the fans are one of the best that we have in this league. And so it's pretty cool to come out here and put on a show for them."
While Harden did surpass Chamberlain's streak, Chamberlain still has three more individual streaks that are higher, that Harden will surely be looking to chase down. Wilt once went 65 straight games with 30 or more points. His other long streaks being 31 and 25 games respectively.
With the win, the Rockets improved to 27-20 on the season and are fifth in the Western Conference.
