It's been a bumpy road for the tentatively titled Bond 25. The last four James Bond movies starred Daniel Craig in the titular role, but the charming actor has repeatedly complained about playing the infamous spy. For a moment, fans believed that Idris Elba would get the part after Craig was done, but Bond producer Barbara Broccoli shot down those rumors. After the tension between the studio and Bond 25 director Danny Boyle hit a boiling point, Boyle decided to exit the project. According to VarietyBroccoli has found the film's new director.

Cary Joji Fukunaga is set to direct the next Bond film. Fukunaga is known for helming Beasts of No Nation and the first season of True Detective. He also directed the new Netflix series Maniac. Bond 25's producers, and the lead actor, released a statement on Twitter to announce the new director's arrival. "Michael G. Wilson, Barbara Broccoli and Daniel Craig announced today that #Bond25 will begin filming at Pinewood Studios on 4 March 2019 under the helm of director, Cary Joji Fukunaga with a worldwide release date of 14 February 2020," read the statement. “We are delighted to be working with Cary. His versatility and innovation make him an excellent choice for our next James Bond adventure."
