After hinting at an imminent retirement earlier this year, iLoveMakonnen is still going strong. And his creative drive hasn't been sapped, as his material is getting increasingly impressive. He's now back alongside one of his most frequent collaborators, Hoodrich's Danny Wolf, who was the executive producer of Makonnen's Red Trap Dragon tape, released in August. The trap is far removed from their new track, "Call Me Badly," a woozy late-night jam that finds Makonnen singing with all his might. His vocals are odd but undeniably sincere and there's something so accessible about this apologetic ballad. "OLD MAKONNEN IS BACK," he wrote upon releasing the song. Hopefully he stays awhile.
