During an age when several artist, critics and fans are declaring the death of HipHop, 23 year old EZ has set out on an mission of lyrical resurrection.
Eric Durran McAfee II (born May 1, 1987 in San Bernardino California) also known as EZ is a producer, engineer, revolutionist and [not a] rapper.
At the age of 12, while attending Etiwanda Middle School, EZ began freestyling with friends. His friends gave him the name EZ because of his ability to make freestyle look ... easy.
In 2005, EZ’s parents gave him his first set of production equipment to encourage his passion for self-expression, creativity, and overall love of music. EZ soon after entered Mt. SAC College as a business major, and later enrolled and graduated from Sound Master Audio & Engineering School (now known as Pinnacle College). The knowledge and skills from Mt. SAC College and Pinnacle College, enhanced his awareness of the music industry, both administratively, production wise, and artistically.
EZ says his sense of style is most influenced by Hip Hop Icons like Common, NAZ, Talib, Eminem, Dr. Dre, and the late Tupac Shakur. In addition to Sade, Billy Holiday, Portishead, Erykah Badu, and Bruce Lee. His lyrics breathe relevance to life experiences, social economic awareness, political bullsh…t, and revolutional thoughts of change for peace and unity.
EZ grabbed the attention of HipHop fans with his first mixtape “The Empire” featuring “Skateboarder” and “Supa Dupa”. “The Empire” gave the IE a second look. In July of 2010 EZ sets out to release his second mixtape and this time making it official with “Me, Myself, and I.E-Z\\\\\\\" Critics have been quoted as saying “... people are sleeping on West Coast HipHop, this kid’s lyricism could wake them up ...”.
