Why We Like Catcreek Musa:
Catcreek Musa is one of the more impressive Heatseekers we've heard in a minute, with a classic air about him, a polished sound and a keen ear for poignant instrumentals. Not only that, he displays a rare worldliness and political awareness on the mic. Keep an eye on this one.
Catcreek Musa is a rising talent from Greensboro, North Carolina. Formerly just a rapper, he now considers himself an activist, singer/songwriter and spoken word artist as well. His moniker is a combination of his late grandfather's nickname and Musa I of Mali. Not only does Catcreek tackle issues others wouldn't dare to, he does so with bar after bar of conscious content, in an attempt to wake up the people who have been lobbied to sleep by the Hidden Hand. Wake up.

Why we like True East:
Although we're not quite up on the rest of his catalogue, True East's "The Fault" is one of the dopest tracks we've heard from a Heatseeker in recent memory, the powerful, string-heavy instrumental perfectly accentuating his passionate delivery and message. It'll be included on his upcoming #PorTraits mixtape, which is slated to drop in February. Don't sleep on the kid.
True East is an emerging 23-year-old hip-hop artist born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and raised in Dallas, Texas. He's aiming to change the stereotypical southern rap scene with a combination of witty, lyrical metaphors, double entendres, triple-syllable bars and true life experiences. Who says rappers can't be simultaneously intelligent, studious and lyrical?

Why we like Chan J.:
Chan J. seems to work with his sister Justine quite a lot, and the sibling are a good creative pairing, with Chan handling the rhyming while Justine take son the hooks. All of it comes together over some very forward-thinking production, which really takes their sound to another level. Let's hop they keep working together, because the results so far are exciting.
Chan. J (19) and Justine (17) are the simply the future of the music industry and for the first time EVER a brother-sister duo will be flooding the scene with a more than unique sound. // SoundCloud.com/Chan-J

Why we like DaeSmoove:
DaeSmoove talks about having a "LOX mentality" on the track that landed him here, and the NY trio's influence is definitely present in his sound. His grimy rap-style and dark production are reminiscent of many of New York's mean-mug finest, Mobb Deep in particular comes to mind. Daesmoove has enough personality to transcend the comparions however, and is certainly a new artist to watch for.
