Jourdan Jackson

Why we like Rai L:

Although Rai L is a Maryland native, his hip-hop sound has no borders, as the rapper is adept at multiple sounds. On his Heatseeker-winning-track, “Dolo Trip,” Rai L offers up a multi-purpose cut, which, as he says, is perfect bumping in your whip or your crib. You can get ignorant to this one, but you can also vibe out dolo to it. Rai L has the ability to create a diverse sound of raps, from the mellowed-out, and introspective “Before Night Falls” to the bouncy “Bang Bang Bang,” and the more trippy sounding “Dolo Trip.” Rai has a flow and voice that can cover all your hip-hop basics, plus he produces, which is why we like him.

Artist Bio:

Marquette "Rai L" Sutton (born November 8, 1992), is a recording artist, songwriter, producer and rapper. He was born in Washington, D.C. and was raised in the P.G. County-area in Maryland. He became known for producing street-singles for artists such as "A-Mafia - Get Money Stay True ft. Papoose" and "JR Writer - I'm Alive". He is currently signed to independent label "Between States Entertainment" and is founder of production-group The Dramatikz. Rai L has released his debut mixtape "Before Night Falls" showing great feedback without paid promotion. His "Before Night Falls" mixtape has reached several blogs and websites that support upcoming artists. He received advice on the "rap game" and feedback on the mixtape from super producer Nottz's manager, Darryl Sloan. Rai L has performed in several clubs in the DMV area, even the notorious club LOVE in Washington, D.C. He's also good friends with Universal's AraabMuzik and Harlem's A-Mafia.

Why we like Freshteno:

Freshteno has a refreshing sound. The 23-year-old Carson, California native has wordplay and production that makes for quality raps, but more than just that, he invests emotion in to the track. While Freshteno is still finding his own grove, he’s not afraid to test the waters with different production styles and different kinds of wordplay, which make for a “breath of fresh air,” like his mixtape title suggests.

Artist Bio:

I love music, and my music shows that. Im an artist. I paint pictures through my lyrics. I do this for the passion, ever since I was young I knew this is what I wanted to do. It makes it all worth while when people tell me my music spoke to their soul! Music is my best friend, medicine, and my life!

Why we like Jourdan Jackson:

Jourdan Jackson has a back-to-basics feel to his music. His delivery is reminiscent of 90s expermimentalists like De La Soul or A Tribe Called Quest. He brings a similar boom bap flavor on the production side as well. Add a likeable personality, and some interesting punchlines, and you've got a surefire threat to break out in the rap game.

Artist Bio:

Jourdan Jackson is an independent artist out of Las Vegas. Jourdan lets his music speak for itself.

Why we like Awais:

Awais combines an interesting array of styles. His aggressive introspection recalls an early Eminem, or more recently Kevin Gates in his darker moments. He combines this personality with modern trap-esque production, with gigantic toned bass drums bringing even more visceral energy to his already engaging words. He can also take things in a cloud-rap direction, as his rhymes cut through the hazy atmosphere of his dreamier backdrops.

Artist Bio:

My name is Awais. 20 years of age. Hip hop artist from Texas. My debut mixtape, The Foundation, drops on May 20th
