Female empowerment has never been stronger! Proving time and time again that lyrical ability isn’t a gender or age restricted art, 18 year old Haviah Mighty is recklessly edging her way into music as a new face in Hip Hop and R&B. Having always found an effective way to emit emotion through words and poetry, it was when she was 12 that Haviah began combining her love for music and her love for language. Lucky to have had an early start, Haviah Mighty began vocal training at the age of 4 through the New Conservatory of Music, thus leading to an appearance on the television show ‘Ants In Your Pants,’ performing at Caribana, making it to the final audition stage of the Broadway Show ‘The Lion King’ and having two songs appear on an album in support of the fight against Cancer with Sick Kids Hospital among other things. She stopped vocal training at the age of 11 and began rapping and producing in her teen years. Such a natural talent didn’t go unnoticed; in 2009 she won a competition hosted by Chris Brown Entertainment in which the creator of the best remix of ‘I Can Transform Ya’ would be flown to New Jersey to meet the American singer and attend his show. Jump starting her confidence, she has gone on to release her debut mixtape ‘No Studio’ Hosted by DJ ill Will, create a cover song that got so much traffic, it appeared on World Star Hip Hop without her own submission, appearances on mixtapes hosted by industry DJ’s such as DJ Babey Drew, opening shows for Danny Fernandez, Shawn Desman and Karl Wolf and the 16th annual Honey Jam. She was recently featured on Much Music for her Honey Jam performance and is currently working on her 5 track EP to be released this fall.
