1017 Eskimo Records is growing by the month with promising new artists being taken under Gucci Mane's wing to join the family. The latest addition to the label, and the first female recruited by Guwop, was Asian Doll, signing to 1017 last month. Asian is having a big year and although she's been having some issues with her fellow Doll, Kash Doll, she has a bright future ahead of her. The first step in ensuring she gets the maximum amount of clout is a joint mixtape with Gucci, himself, which she has announced through an interview with XXL.
Asian is genuinely excited to learn from Big Wop, looking to him as somewhat of a father figure since her own father kicked her out when she declared her interest in becoming a rapper. Atlanta's trap king and Asian Doll are now working on a project together and she seems stoked about the possibilities. "I was in the studio with [Gucci], Playboi Carti, Offset, Southside and Metro [Boomin]. It was a crazy vibe. Me, Gucci, Southside and Metro going back and forth on the beat, and me and Gucci in there freestyling back and forth. I’m keeping up with the n---as!"
While there is no release date announced yet for the joint tape, Asian revealed that she and Gucci are about three songs in so far. With the 1017 crew continually cooking up heat this year, it will be interesting to see how the First Lady of the label will deliver. Read her full feature here.
