Wicked

Metro Boomin and Southside have become two of Future's most important collaborators over the last year. Metro has overseen much of Future's work over his recent creative burst, and has also sculpted his sound by contributing his impossibly heavy instrumentals to the rapper's many projects. Meanwhile, Southside is partially responsible for bringing the 56 Nights sound to Future, beginning with the influential "Commas" beat back in 2014 (DJ Spinz recently told us about how that particular hit came together).

With the release of Future's Purple Reign mixtape today, Metro and Southside are present throughout. On early highlight, "Wicked," they're working side-by-side, building on their respective sounds to create a driving and immediate sub-heavy beat that has Future at his liveliest, slurring the title of the track until its rendered unrecognizable, and doing so with an audible joy.
