Freeway Talks "Roctober" Initiative, "Roc Reunion" Show, New Album & Brother Ali Collaboration

Philadelphia Freeway talks new music, touring and his collaboration with Brother Ali.

During a conversation with HipHopDX at the recent Coast 2 Coast Convention in Miami, Florida, Freeway discussed his new album, his collaborative project with Brother Ali and his upcoming "Roc Reunion" show.

"I’m doing this thing called 'Roctober,'" said the former Roc-a-Fella artist. "The last leg of the Rock The Bells Tour is in October, so we’re doing that... I got a couple of independent shows that I’m doing in October as part of 'Roctober.' I’m doing the Coast 2 Coast Tour as part of 'Roctober.' We’re hitting 10 cities. It’s gonna be crazy."

Freeway has also organized a "Roc Reunion" concert in Philadelphia on October 30th at the Theatre Of The Living Arts, although performances have yet to be announced. He also took the opportunity to announce a new album, which is slated to drop on October 29.

"All I’m gonna tell y’all is that I’m doing a project with a producer and it’s just me and him," he said. "He’s doing the beats and I’m doing the raps. We dropping it on the 29th [of October]. I’m not telling y’all who it is. It’s not Jake One. I love Jake One. We’ve got plans on doing [Stimulus Package 2]. But this project is the first time I’ve ever worked with this person and I believe it’s the first time he’s ever worked with a rapper. It’s gonna be crazy."

The Philadelphia emcee also spoke on his collaborative project with Minnesota's Brother Ali: "We got four or five records done for that project... I actually went out and stayed at his house and worked with him. He has a studio in the basement so we’d just wake up, go downstairs and get it in."

Freeway will be performing throughout the 2013 Rock The Bells tour, which began in Los Angeles on Saturday.

That's all for now, folks.
