Laura Ingraham took to her post on Fox News to criticize the rampant backlash over the Trump administration's separation of children from their parents as they try to illegally enter into the United States.

The "Zero Tolerance" policy effectively sees children being hoarded into chain-link cages and wailing for their parents who were seized by border patrol and detained immediately.

Staff working within these confines are not allowed to console or comfort any crying children, who sleep on mats on the floor wrapped in large foil sheets.

However, Ingraham believes that the time spent in these cages is essentially comparable to summer camp. "More kids are being separated from their parents and temporarily housed in what are essentially summer camps, or as The San Diego Union Tribune described them today, as basically looking like boarding schools," she notes. "The American people are footing a really big bill for what is tantamount to a slow-rolling invasion of the United States."

The footage and images from inside these detention centres have been provided by the American government, as reporters and other media personnel who toured the facilities were not allowed to document their experiences through photos or speak with any of the detainees.

Since Jeff Sessions announced this new policy, nearly 2,000 children have been separated from their parents.
