Disgraced former Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy is putting his NFL "career" on hold in order to pursue opportunities in MMA. In a statement to MMAFighting.com, Hardy said:

"I'm very focused and excited to start my MMA career. "I'm going to do this the right way, I can assure you of that."

"I'm fully committed to being as successful as I can be in this sport," he said.

The 28-year old has reportedly been training for months and although he has no history with mixed martial arts, there are obviously several promotions that are interested in him.

Hardy, who stands 6'4 and 285+ lbs, was in the news most recently after being arrested for cocaine possession in Texas but has had numerous run-ins with the law including his domestic violence case in 2014 which resulted in a 4-game suspension at the start of last season. He was unable to find work this off-season after Dallas chose not to resign him.

His MMA debut will likely come in 2017 as part of the heavyweight division. There are surely plenty of fighters who want a piece of this guy.
