While Marvel has remained relatively mum about details surrounding the upcoming Venom film, the newest Marvel venture is definitely slated to hit theatres this October. However, thanks to IGN, we now have in our possession the first image of Tom Hardy as reporter Eddie Brock, his human identity before he transforms into the venomous antihero who has periodically appeared in Spider-Man comics.

In the photo, Hardy is holding a journal in his hands, and Entertainment Weekly has made legible the handwriting that fills the pages of the book. According to EW, written on the pages of the handheld journal are questions like "So how exactly does the Life Foundation go about testing its pharmaceuticals?" and "What about the allegations your empire is built on?" The magazine speculates that these questions may be directly aimed at the fictitious The Life Foundation, which "appeared in the comics as an organization believing that the Cold War would culminate in a nuclear holocaust. So, to protect their wealthy clients, its leaders constructed a bunker for them to wait it out. They also used to the symbiote to create multiple other Venom-esque creatures."

In addition to the first photo of Hardy's Venom, some footage has also released from Brazil's Comic Con Experience that took place in December, which gives viewers a behind-the-scenes sneak peek at the set. When speaking with the panel at the event, Hardy is very eloquently reveals that "I just wanted to say that I give you my word of honor that I’m going to do everything that I can to deliver the best Venom that I possibly can muster."

The film is slated to open October 5, and also stars Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed and Jenny Slate.
