Fetty Wap's self-titled debut album was certified by platinum by the RIAA on February 26, five months after it's release.

While the album would have gone platinum eventually, it's sales numbers certainly got a boost when RIAA changed their rules so that album streams would be counted towards gold and platinum certification (1,500 song streams is equivalent to one album sale). To give you an idea of the sort of boost the rule change provided, Fetty's album moved 75,000 traditional units and 54,000 streaming units its first week.

"Trap Queen" has already gone 4x platinum. "679" has gone 2x platinum, and "My Way" has gone platinum just the once.

Fetty celebrated the big news this week by hitting the studio with Snoop Dogg and London on da Track and meeting the 11-year-old kid whom he inspired to wear his prosthetic eye to school.
