In the Boston rap scene, McEdward “eZ BreeZ” Laguerre, stands out from the rest. The 21 year old native of the city got his start and minor exposure since back in the high school days by rapping over popular beats. He currently has released banging remixes such as “Drop the World (Lil’ Wayne) and “Shottas” (Juelz Santana) and posting them to his youtube page www.youtube.com/ezbreez617. BreeZ is striving to become the premiere rapper out of a city that rarely gets respect or exposure regardless of the amounts of talent within it.
Laguerre born to Haitian parents on October 5th, 1990, stayed true to his roots and the city that raised him receiving a high school education at Boston Latin Academy and staying in the city currently attending Boston College. Student by day and rocking clubs and campuses by night, BreeZ has worked tirelessly to make a name for himself. Through word of mouth and an unparalleled work ethic, BreeZ gained enough notoriety to strike a deal with underground labels T.R.I.Y (Talent Resides In You) established by middle school friends, Taychon “Triy” Little and Ernest “Efficial” Dudley back in 2010 and along with his DJ, Mr. Lag, signed to Run Dem Productions. However due to conflicting interests he is no longer signed to T.R.I.Y Records, though he remains close to his long time friends.
Over the years, eZ has featured on countless mixtapes and singles of fellow Boston rappers. He has teamed with both older and younger brothers, MacCalvin “MacNum” and Emmanuel “Phenom” on their mixtapes, “Pressed for Fame” and “Fresh out Da Box” respectively. Outside of the Laguerre household he has also been featured on former label mate Yung Triy’s successful, “Songs for Her” mixtape and friend Derrick “DMoney” Martinez’s mixtape, “My Definition”.
With all the exposure and time in the booth on other people’s projects, BreeZ figured it was time for him to make a mixtape of his own. Combining his witty metaphors and wordplay along with his killer flow the product was brought to life by the name of “Breathe eZ”, the mixtape. The project features some of the same artists that had previously featured him including Yung Triy and DMoney among other Boston such as: Phenom, Tha Jist, Dark Blue, G- Sharp, all the way to artists from Atlanta and Maryland in, David Fuller and Steven Jefferson.
Currently working under the YellowTape Music Group founded by close friend, Christopher “Mr. YellowTape” Monestime, as well as ties to FKU (Fresh Kids United), a clothing group created by his older cousin, Kervens “Smurkz” Laguerre, eZ is working nonstop to make the music that he wants people to hear without becoming a sellout and keeping Boston in the picture. In between his studies he uses his extra time in the studio to perfect his craft and keep the anthems of the city coming.
With the constant love and support of his fans as well as the strength of the team that is being built around eZ, there seems to be no room for failure. His previous mixtape did incredible numbers without a full team of promoters and advisers, with the building process of that and the talent eZ has, it is a matter of time before Boston realizes the artist he is.
