Sure the Atlanta Falcons were on their way to dismantle the New England Patriots at Super Bowl LI, tennis star Eugenie Bouchard made a silly bet with a Twitter fan that they would hoist the Vince Lombardi trophy. Two weeks later, Bouchard honored the bet and went out with the fan.

The two sat court side at a Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks NBA game. John Goehrke, a student, proposed the bet when the Falcons were leading 21-3. The 44th-ranked player in the world tweeted a pic of them together as they were headed to Barclay's Center.

Confident the Patriots were toast, Bouchard tweeted "sure" to Goehrke's long shot. She must not have taken into account Tom Brady's presence on the field.

After the Patriots clawed their way back to win the Super Bowl 34-28, Bouchard said social media made her keep her word. The Telegraph reports she told Sports Illustrated's Extra Mustard, "After all the media attention it got, it was something I could, first of all, not back out of. There was no chance."

The two went out Wednesday to watch the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Brooklyn Nets 129-125. Bouchard said she was scared at first when she saw his profile was a picture of Tiger Woods.

"I was like, 'It's one of those Twitter fans. I don't even know what he looks like. What is going to happen?,'" she said. "But it turns out he seems to be a very nice boy."

The Telegraph reports that Goehrke told the Kansas City Star, he didn't think she would honor the bet.

"I thought maybe there was a chance she would respond, but I thought there was no chance she’d actually agree to it," he said.

It's not clear whether the lucky Goehrke got a lucky second date, but he's got bragging rights among her followers for sure.
