Etta James, an R&B singing legend, died at the age of 73. She passed away at a hospital in Riverside, California, reports CNN. Lupe De Leon, a long time friend of singer and her manager, has revealed that James was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2010. In addition to this, she suffered from dementia and hepatitis C.

James would have turned 74 on Wednesday. During her long career she beat a heroin addiction, opened for the Rolling Stones won a total of six Grammys as well as being ushered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
