ESPN has released the first look trailer for their upcoming 30 for 30 documentary Long Gone Summer. The newest documentary will follow the home run battle between Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa in the summer of 1998.
Both McGwire and Sosa sought to break the single-season home run record of Roger Maris. ESPN says Long Gone Summer will include interviews with both McGwire and Sosa. Since '98, McGwire has admitted to using performance-enhancing drugs, while Sosa maintains he was clean.
Long Gone Summer is the latest 30 for 30 documentary to be push up following The Last Dance.
"It's a great feeling to bring three more epic documentary projects to sports fans who so need it right now," Executive Producer and Vice President of Films and Original Content Libby Geis said. "Moving up these films is no easy task, but it's absolutely worth the effort to get them on the air for audiences to experience together. Long Gone Summer debuts on ESPN, Sunday, June 14 at 9:00 PM ET.
