Seventeen years ago today, Eminem released the music video for "My Name Is (Slim Shady)." With this song (and all of The Slim Shady LP, which came out a month later), Em embraced his failures, doubled down on his depravity, and skyrocketed to fame. He never looked back.
In the video, Dr. Dre plays a psychiatrist unable to diagnose and/or assist Eminem with his sociopathic tendencies. Eminem portrays various versions of his self, as well as Bill Clinton (the Monica Lewinsky scandal was still fresh in America's memory).
