The festival's been officially infused with real hip hop.
The initial lineup for New York City's annual Downtown Music Festival has been announced, and it incudes Earl Sweatshirt and the Black Hippy collective that is Schoolboy Q, Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul and Jay Rock. Joining them is a fleet of more alternative artists including Black Dave, Purity Ring, Royal Teeth, Sky Ferreira, Ducktails, DIIV, Teengirl Fantasy, Palma Violets, Beach Fossils and Trash Talk.
This is only the first round of acts to be announced. There are more to come.
The festival will be held at multiple Manhattan venues including the Cake Shop, Mercury Lounge, Pianos and the Bowery Ballroom. Also, after the New York dates the festival will travel to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Boston, Toronto and Denver. Those dates have yet to be announced.
The first festival's taking place on May 10th and 11th on Manhattan's Lower East Side. If you're in NY and can make it, you can cop two-day tickets for $99 here.
