Drake to produce Aaliyah's posthumous album, and will also use her vocals on an upcoming single.
Almost 11 years after her untimely death, Drake is set to executive produce Aaliyah’s posthumous album. HipHopDX reports that a source has confirmed that Drizzy is slated to not only produce the late songstress’ album, but he will use her vocals on one of his upcoming singles.
No concrete details have been released, but in March producer Jeffrey “J.Dub” Walker said that an unreleased track “Steady Ground” would appear on the project. Then Aaliyah’s brother, Rashad Haughton, refuted this saying there was no album coming.
Around that same time in March, during an interview with Tim Westwood, Drake said, “I have some great Aaliyah news coming soon,” he said. “Just some special things. Just gave you that, just a little...great things for music, period.”
Drake is set to debut his single featuring Aaliyah’s vocals at the OVO Festival in Toronto on Sunday August 5th.
