Somber news this Thanksgiving for Young Money artist Drake with the passing of his grandmother, Evelyn Sher.
In contrast to the many family gatherings this Thanksgiving Day, Canadian artist Drake was left to deal with the tragic passing of his maternal grandmother, Evelyn Sher. According to MTV News, Drake relayed the tragic news in a single tweet posted to his Twitter page.
Rest in peace to my grandmother Evelyn Sher. What a day to go...thankful to have had the times we did.— Drizzy (@Drake) November 23, 2012
Having canceled his Club Paradise tour stops in both North Carolina and Virginia, Drake had taken time to be with his ailing grandmother earlier this year.
Drake referenced his late grandmother on the Thank Me Later record “The Resistance” and she was also featured in a deleted scene from Drake's 2010 MTV documentary "Drake: Better Than Good Enough". On camera, Drake paid a visit to his grandmother in a nursing home shortly after inking his deal with Universal Motown/Young Money.
Our prayers and deepest sympathies to Drake and family from the HNHH Staff.
