Drake & The Weeknd Score Polaris Music Prize Nominations

One of these two Toronto boys could win a big Canadian music award.

Drake and The Weeknd are looking to cap off their massively successful 2016's in style.

According to Billboard, the two Canadian rappers have been nominated, along with Leonard Cohen, Carly Rae Jepsen, The Tragically Hip and Feist and many others, have been nominated for a Polaris Prize, which goes to Canada's album of the year. The winner is determined by a jury of selected music media.

Polaris Music Prize founder and executive director Steve Jordan, who was a home in Drake and The Weeknd's hometown, recently said of his creation of the prize and unwavering support of Canadian independent music: "I love my job. I spent the past few days listening to the records that are on the Polaris Long list." The winner will be announced at a Septeber 18th gala and will win $50,000 (CAD).
