The situation has become so grave that he and his family have begun planning funeral arrangements. His closest associates have informed the White House directly that they want Donald Trump barred from the service.
John McCain and his family have chosen the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. as the location for the event. In his place, McCain has requested that Mike Pence assume the honor of representing the Oval Office. State funerals are often subject to tradition and etiquette, but the family of the deceased generally retain the right to make changes where they see fit.
