If you're from New York and you haven't heard of Don Q, there's a little bit of an issue. However, if you're part of the New York hip-hop scene yourself and you've never heard of Don Q, something is certainly wrong. Or at least that's what Don himself is implying. The artist has been putting in work for years and while he may not have a huge radio single, he's making more than a decent living for himself. As part of the Highbridge crew with A Boogie wit da Hoodie and a few others, Don has been working a lot this year, dropping his Don Talk project earlier this year and following it up with Don Season 2.
It may have been forgotten by some but Don Q was not a fan of Nicki Minaj's subtle shade on her most recent episode of Queen Radio. Many chose to focus on her comments about Cardi B, and for good reason too as they were some of the most dramatic statements said by anybody all year. However, Nicki also threw some shade when 6ix9ine brought up Don Q's name, saying she had no clue who that was. Don told her to get her head out of her behind but that wasn't enough as he revisited the topic during his interview with Ebro & Co.
Peter Rosenberg brought up the topic and Don had some more to say. "I just feel like if you from New York and you claim that you a spitter, or like a real rapper, you should know what's up." We have to agree that he has a point. Don has made heavy waves in his city and while Nicki may not know who he is, a good percentage of New Yorkers definitely do.
