Doe Boy thanks his boss for the constant inspiration on "Letter to Future."

Doe Boy has had a strong second half of 2016, with records like "Doe Boy Home," "Mama Never Understood," and "Gang," last month's collab with his fellow Cleveland native Machine Gun Kelly. Of course, he spent the first half of the year locked in a cell, finishing up a nearly three year sentence that he began when he was 18 years old. He was sent away shortly after he signed to Freebandz. Doe Boy's new track is a tribute to the man that signed him, Future, who celebrated his 34th birthday this weekend.

On "Letter to Future," Doe Boy remembers sitting in prison and wishing he could be contributing to the Freebandz movement. He summoned daily inspiration from watching Future's work ethic, and his post-prison grind has been a testament to what he's learned from his label boss, who still had faith in him despite his incarceration shortly after their deal. Doe Boy uses the new track to show off his newly polished singing chops, also likely inspired by Future. The record is reminiscent of Ralo's recent "Letter to Birdman," which was, in turn, inspired by Boosie's "Letter to Pac."

"Letter to Future" comes with a beat from one of Future's most trusted producers, Will-A-Fool.

Quotable Lyrics

Almost made it 'til the police came and took it from me
And I got n*ggas doin' life, the police took 'em from me
And I salute to everybody who's out here pushin' for me
